Things you always wanted to say but were afraid

A new pet

For those of you that did not remember, when I retired the Mr. said I could have a dog.  We had not been able to have a dog for years, because we had been unable to take care of it with the commute we had to endure.  Anyway, I love dogs, but the Mr. only likes certain dogs.  The kind that stays outside, does not lick or jump on you and does what you tell it to.  So, a puppy was out of the question, but we kept putting it off because we were working on the house, etc.  Finally, we took this dog and made it ours.  His name is Hank.  He is a great dog, never shed, never gets dirty, never has an accident, never barks, never licks.  Well, you get the picture.  This has become quite a joke at our house, especially with the grandkids.  Everyone now comes in and calls Hank and pets him and loves on him.  Today, one of the grandkids left a small toy.  What a stroke of luck.

So now Hank has a friend.  We called him Rusty Republican because we had a visit today from an old friend, that happens to be the other grandparent to our grandkids.  Obviously, you can fill in the rest.

Often when our son and his wife and three children come to visit they do a twofer.  Her parents come to our house because it is convenient.

Anyway, we have a new addition and the visit certainly livened us up.  That middle child worked his butt off replacing all our old light switches and plates.  They literally crumbled in his hand as he took them off.  It’s amazing how clean the new ones look.  After that, he went into the other room, closed the door and played the electric guitar.  I really think that is how he keeps from visiting with the in-laws, but maybe his ADD just will not let him sit still to visit.  He’s a keeper along with the new dog.

  1. Don’t worry…some day a real live dog will come and adopt you. You’ll see. 🙂
